Spanakopita step by step

  1. preheat oven to 350.
  2. heat saute pan.
  3. saute onions until translucent.
  4. add spinach, and garlic.
  5. when spinach is properly cooked remove pan from heat to cool.
  6. when spinach is warm (not hot) add feta cheese.
  7. butter your pastry area.
  8. place layers of phylo dough brushing each layer of dough with melted butter in between.
  9. repeat last step 8 times.
  10. cut dough into quarters.
  11. place approximately 4oz of spinach mixture in to the phylo quarters.
  12. wrap each quarter into triangles being very careful not to tear the dough, brush with additional butter when necessary.
  13. place triangles on cookie sheet, coat lightly with egg wash.
  14. bake until golden.
