Garides (Prawns) saganaki This is a Greek recipe that is great as a starter but also eaten as an ouzo "meze" (snack). It is a delicious dish that I'd only tried in restaurants but I found out I can make it pretty well. By tossing with hot pasta you can turn this dish into a delicious seafood main course.

Ingredients of Garides (Prawns) saganaki

  1. It's 400 grams of fresh,peeled,uncooked king prawns.
  2. You need 1 large of onion, peeled and cubed.
  3. You need 3 clove of garlic, peeled and finely sliced.
  4. Prepare 1 cup of pomodoro tomatos (cubed from can).
  5. Prepare 2 tsp of tomato paste.
  6. You need 1/2 cup of Chardonnay (white wine).
  7. You need 1/2 tsp of crushed chillies.
  8. Prepare 1 tsp of dried thyme.
  9. It's 2 tsp of dried oregano.
  10. You need 4 tbsp of extra virgin olive oil.
  11. You need 250 grams of greek goat feta cheese.

Garides (Prawns) saganaki instructions

  1. Heat the olive oil in a pan. Sauté the onions, then add the garlic, tomatos, tomato paste, all the spices snd the white wine. Let all ingredients simmer for 15 minutes until a nice, thick sauce is formed..
  2. Add the prawns and cook for another 3 minutes. After you remove the pan from heat and while the contents are hot, crumble the feta cheese in and stir well..
  3. Serve immediately with saffroned basmati!.

It can be served as a starter or a side dish and is actually quite filling.
